A yacht from YYachts will be sailing in the world’s most prestigious superyacht regatta this year. PREVAIL, a Tripp 90 built by the YYachts Custom Division, will be competing in the St. Barths Bucket from March 13.
Every year in March, some of the most beautiful and fastest superyachts head for the Caribbean island of St. Barths. The occasion is perhaps the most prestigious superyacht regatta in the world, the St. Barths Bucket. A yacht from YYachts will be taking part in this year’s edition from March 13 to 16 for the first time – the 27-metre PREVAIL will be competing in an illustrious field, with a total of 30 yachts up to 106 meters in length registered.
The first Bucket Regatta took place on St. Barths 30 years ago and has been held every year in March ever since. Although the size of the yachts and the participating fleet has steadily increased, the spirit of the event has remained unchanged. The organizers have always been careful not to commercialize the Bucket. It is still a regatta designed and organized solely for the pleasure of the sailing owners.
The YYachts participant PREVAIL, which has already competed successfully in the Ibiza JoySail, brings a competitive performance to the regatta course and combines this with comfortable sailing behavior. This is achieved thanks to YYachts’ customary, consistent weight reduction in the construction and finishing of the yacht: the hull, internal structure and rig of the custom yacht are made of carbon.
The fact that all halyards, sheets and outhauls run concealed to the steering columns makes the yacht extremely user-friendly; it can be sailed with a very small crew.
Bill Tripp, who was largely responsible for the look of PREVAIL says: “The balanced combination of speed, reliability and comfort of this yacht is ideal for owners looking for a yacht for long voyages that can also win trophies.”
The interior design of the yacht was created by Winch Design from London. This is the third time Tripp Design and Winch Design have worked together on a sailing yacht, following collaborations on SHAMAN in 1997 and ALITHIA in 2002. The spacious interior is minimalist and open plan and benefits from plenty of natural light. With stylistic inspirations from the East Coast of the USA and Scandinavian influences from the middle of the last century, as well as the use of soft leather and light oak wood, the ambience exudes understated elegance. A bucket trophy would still look good on the sideboard.
From 16 to 18 May, the YYachts shipyard in Greifswald welcomed customers, interested parties and friends of the company through its doors.
