A PERFECT LOOK

YYachts only works with the best designers, engineers and Naval architects in the world for award winning yachts.

Michael Schmidt had previously collaborated with some of the most famous design developers in the world before YYachts was founded. Sir David Chipperfield, one of the
most important architects of our time and also a sailor along with his team created an interior of timeless elegance for the Y8. A clear and straightforward concept in
Chipperfield’s signature minimalist design language. The lines of this yacht are from Luca Brenta’s Italian studio and correspond seamlessly with the interior.

The YYachts portfolio contains numerous groundbreaking concepts designed by stars such as Bill Tripp, Lorenzo Argento, Mark Tucker, and Norm Architects.

EXTERIOR DESIGNER

YYachts works with the best designers and naval architects in the world. Luca Brenta, Javier Jaudenes (Surge Projects) and Bill Tripp have already drawn for the leading German shipyard in carbon yacht building.

BILL TRIPP

Bill Tripp and his team are among the best yacht designers in the world. For YYachts, Tripp designed the successful Y7 model, the flagship Y9 and the latest delivery of the YC division. His designs match perfectly with the YYachts philosophy.

Bill Tripp has spent almost his entire life on the water sailing and racing. Partly, by the way,on yachts designed by his father, William H. Tripp Jr. After studying naval architecture at the University of Michigan, Bill Tripp first worked as chief designer for Doug Peterson. Together they created designs that won the Admirals Cup, the Sardinia Cup or the Southern Cross series. In 1984, Tripp went into business for himself and founded Tripp Design Naval Architecture, which today has offices in Connecticut and Amsterdam. Meanwhile, Tripp’s portfolio features references up to 86 metres in length.

SURGE PROJECTS

YYachts realised the new Y8 with Javier Jaudenes and his team from Surge Projects. The Spanish design and construction office specializes in fast sailing yachts, and its designs have already won numerous regattas.

With extensive experience in the construction and conversion of motor and sailing boats, Javier Jaudenes, naval architect and passionate sailor, founded Surge Projects in 2012.

The studio’s portfolio ranges from exterior design to pure naval architecture using the latest technology. Javier Jaudenes believes in a fully integrated product developed by a dedicated and responsible team. At Surge Projects, they aim to exceed their clients’ expectations. In the past, they have launched such successful and exciting yachts as “Win Win”, the Café Racer – or the new Y8.

INTERIOR DESIGNER

The interior of the YYachts is designed by world-renowned architects such as Sir David Chipperfield, Norm Architects, Winch Design or Design Unlimited. They collaborate with our shipyard’s own design team on every project

NORM ARCHITECTS

The Danish studio Norm Architects developed the Wallpaper Award-winning interior of the first Y7 and has been associated with YYachts for a long time. Founded in 2008, the design studio from Copenhagen stands for Scandinavian minimalism.

Similar to human well-being, the essence of Norm Architects’ work lies in balance – between opulence and restraint, between order and complexity. Each project is imbued with the same quality: a simplicity that carries bigger ideas. Norm Architects’ projects are oriented around the body and mind rather than trends or technology, exploring ideas that not only look good, but more importantly, feel good. “We provide retreats in a world of
hyperstimulation,” says Katrine Goldstein, Managing Partner of Norm Architects.

DAVID THULSTRUP

David Thulstrup is an award-winning architect and designer whose refined and holistic approach to architecture, interiors and product design combines his Scandinavian heritage with a modern design language.

David has completed an extensive portfolio worldwide ranging from residential architecture to restaurants, retail, hotels, furniture and lighting. His interior of Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, as well as winning multiple awards, set a design benchmark, melding elegant craft and comfort with a strong sense of place, or stedsans as it is expressed in Danish.

David’s practice is grounded upon enduring Scandinavian values of honesty and humanism with a particular emphasis on materiality. A central tenet is a concern for how people feel. By taking a holistic approach to each aspect of a project David creates spaces where people are comfortable and embraced by their surroundings. Pivotal to this, is a deep understanding of how a space will be used or lived in. Designing that space from the inside out, David considers light, color, form and materials as architectural elements.

Winch Design with a focus on interior design, decorating and styling for both residential and commercial spaces. The London-based team of interior designers embrace art, culture and both contemporary and heritage references to curate spaces with personality.
Every dream starts with an idea but it’s what you do with that idea that really matters. Putting pencil to paper is the first step to realising one’s dream yet it takes great skill and vision to execute well.

Led by Jim Dixon, the Yachts Team at Winch Design has designed and delivered some of the most iconic and industry-leading custom superyachts in the world and continually strives to push the boundaries of luxury yacht design and innovation every day.
Jim Dixon has been part of the Winch Design team for over 20 years and took on the role of Head of Yachts and Aviation in 2018 when the two studios merged. Having learnt the craft of ‘how things go together’ in his formative years training as a furniture maker and designer, Jim has applied his desire for perfection to many areas of the design business; his unique analysis of three-dimensional problems and beautiful aesthetics has helped create some of the studio’s most memorable signature projects.

3D-Design - standard in our boat constructions

YYachts believes it is commonsense that all technical equipment can be reached at any time and, if necessary, easily replaced or repaired.

Any yacht can sail far and wide with ease if it is simple to maintain.

To this end, every detail of our yachts is created in advance on 3D design software. The positions of all internals are thus already fixed before construction.

Because we optimise every area of the yacht, you can be sure that you will not experience any surprises at sea. We promise. Keep it simple: “It should look good and it must sail nicely”
