YYachts wins Wallpaper Design Award
The most important design magazine in the world honored the Y7 "Bella" for its interior design.
The British wallpaper magazine, which is considered by architects, designers and design-savvy people around the world as the “bible of contemporary taste”, presented YYachts with one of its prestigious design awards. The Y7 “Bella” prevailed in the “Cabin” category; its interior design comes from Norm Architects from Copenhagen. "That is a very special award," said Michael Schmidt, founder of YYachts. "We don't seem to have been completely wrong in choosing a design office that brings fresh touches to yachting."
The extremely top-class and independent jury included the French interior designer and current “Wallpaper Designer of the Year” Pierre Yovanovitch, the Asian business tycoon Adrian Cheng, Bottega Veneta's creative director Daniel Lee and the American singer and actress Solange Knowles.
A newcomer in yachting designed the interior of the first Y7 “Bella” with Norm Architects from Copenhagen. The Danish architects, who otherwise tend to work in furniture and residence design, prescribed a reduced design with just a few color tones for the yacht. The Nordic design is characterized by subtle restraint and the greatest possible closeness to nature.
Katrine Goldstein, Managing Director at Norm Architects says: "In this yacht, which we have equipped according to our principle of soft minimalism, you escape for some time the constant overstimulation that our society is constantly exposed to today."
The Greifswald shipyard is implementing a design by Bill Tripp with an interior by Andrew Winch in its Custom Division.
